Congratulations!!! Michael Callander, one of the nine recipients of the 2018 Model A Youth Restoration Award (MAYRA) listed an affiliation with the Stampede City Model A Ford Club on his application. Last July, Michael was awarded $2,200 in gift certificates to be used on the restoration of his 1928 Roadster Pickup. All your members are to be congratulated for your obvious interest in youth.
The goal of MAYRA is keeping the hobby alive by financially supporting youth whose interest in the hobby is demonstrated by their efforts in restoring a Model A. We believe that helping these youth will further encourage the completion of their restoration and cement their love for the Model A as they grow into adulthood. They are the foundation for the future of the hobby.
Eighty five percent of Michael’s award represents donations from Chapters and Regions of MAFCA and MARC. The balance is from individuals, memorials, vendor donations, and from the MAFCA and MARC national organizations. We are a 501 (c) 3. It would be great if your club donated again to this program.
Your club is fortunate that you have the opportunity to provide knowledge and hands on support for Michael and his project. The younger generation needs that transfer of knowledge. Most clubs are searching for opportunities to share and hopefully attract youth to the hobby. Your club has achieved this. We encourage you to keep it up and find the next youth. Please share your ideas with us on attracting youth.
The next awards will be announced at the MAFCA National Convention and the MARC National Meet in the summer of 2020. If we have ten recipients in 2020, we will need ten times $2,200. Please continue with your support for the program and consider an annual pledge.
The 2018 MAYRA recipients are listed on the back of this letter.
Sincerely,
Bob Moore, President of MAYRA
