Making a Winter Checklist

The Model A is such a well-documented car that it is difficult to provide new ideas for fixing any problems. This column is included to help restorers and drivers find answers to what troubles their Model A. You can help a fellow hobbyist by contributing a tip based on your experience with the A. There is so much valuable experience within our club. Yes, some of this knowledge is shared during the tech talk sessions at the regular meetings, but not all members are able to attend every meeting.

This tech tip is much like the one used in the November APAC newsletter.

It involves making a check list for putting your A in winter storage. With a printed list you will not forget to “undo” any of the procedures before you start the car next spring. You should include a list of plugs installed to keep mice from getting into the cars interior or engine.

Access to the engine or at least the exhaust system is through the tailpipe.

A plug in this opening will prevent the nasty problems associated with a blocked muffler or exhaust. However a plug in the exhaust would do the same. A check list would be a reminder to remove that plug and any others you thought necessary.
