Our 1929 Model A Roadster - Sheila and Al Friesen

Our Model A interest was kick started about five years ago when visiting the annual Spring Thaw Show n' Shine. There we met Kathy and Paul Chudek who had their town sedan displayed and were most helpful in providing information on the cars and invited us to join the SCMAFC.

Soon after becoming Club members we bought a partially restored 1930 Coupe and were able to learn much more about these great machines. Plans to restore the car took a back seat to some other commitments, however we were able to attend some Club functions and tours with our modern car or as passengers with other members.

About three years ago a restored 1929 Roadster came available within the Club and as far as Sheila was concerned it was love at first sight! It was not long before it took up residence in our garage and the coupe found a new home locally, where it's restoration has been completed by it's new owner.

2002 was our first year of actively driving our roadster, attending many Club tours, the NW Regional Meet in Boise, Idaho and enjoying many drives in the countryside near our weekend getaway at Sundre.. We accumulated over 1200 miles that year and hope to double that in 2003.

The picture on the Script cover was taken last summer and that happy looking passenger is my Dad, proud to be enjoying an outing in the Roadster at age 79. He had several Model A's in his youth and remembers them quite fondly. We look forward to many more afternoon rides with him and our grandchildren.
