December 15 , 2002 Christmas Party Report

Once again we are pleased to report that everyone appeared to have enjoyed themselves, that attendance increased moderately from the previous year to a total of 115 (30 of whom took advantage of the opportunity to visit Santa), and, that for the third year in a row the function was self-funding.

Part of the success of the function was attributable to the fine array of door prizes and food offered and in that respect we'd be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the generosity of the individuals who contributed the following items.

Chocolates by the Callander Families -- Chocolates byAl Chase -- three sets of software CD's by Troy and Carolyn Dillabough -- a set of 3 framed pictures by Louise Fentiman -- a porcelain Christmas doll by Sheila &Al Friesen -- a Christmas turkey by Al & Sheila Friesen -- a Spruce Meadows book and tickets set by Rich Hardman -- a casual jacket by Rich Hardman -- a Club / 2003 Meet logo cushion by Ron & Irene Rigby -- a car blanket by Irene Rigby -- a Model A model kit by Helen & Warren Robinson -- a lug wrench by Keith Robinson -- a Hemmings ModelAcalendar by Jim Rouse &Al Friesen -- a rhodenite clock by Bob & Jane Smith -- and, a lovely blue tin of cookies donated by an anonymous contributor!

More difficult to single out, were the multitude of participants who contributed both food and effort - - in order to make the event a success. Besides Louise Fentiman and Irene Rigby who were the primary organizers of the event a hearty thank you goes out - - to everyone who helped Shirley Watt, Louise, and Irene with the food/kitchen activities; to Gord Watt and his team who both organized the bar and poured the drinks; to Laurie Draper for making sure not a cent was lost on the gate receipts; to Yvon Picot (and Anne Marie) who did honor to his red suited heritage; to Grant Alger and Al Friesen who were instrumental in getting the tables and chairs set up in time; to the multitude who not only loaned things but stayed to put the tables and chairs away, to haul the garbage, and to sweep the floor; plus - - "To each and every one of the participants whose spirit of comradeship contributed to the success of the event"!

May they all enjoy good health, success, and a great series of ModelA activities in 2003!
