Member Biography - Jim & Mil Rouse

Jim Rouse is a Calgary native and he has engineering degrees from the Universities of Alberta and California. In 1959 Jim married Mil, a Banff native. Their travels saw them living in Banff, Edmonton, Ottawa and Berkeley, California. Calgary has been home for the family since 1972. Daughter Lauren, in partnership with her brother Gord manages the Marda Loop Subway. Gord's day job is a heavy oil Production Engineer with Petro Canada. Both Lauren and Gord are expert golfers.

In 1991 after a 32-year career, Jim retired from the position of Special Projects Officer with the Canadian National Parks Service. While in the employ of the National Parks, he carried out assignments from coast to coast, in the Yukon and in some National Parks in the U.S. Jim was a member of Ralph Klein's Bow River Water Quality Task Force and now represents the fishing interests on the Bow River Basin Water Council. He is a long time Director of the Bow River Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada.

In addition to his interests in fly fishing and promoting the objectives of Trout Unlimited, Jim is model railroader. Gord and Jim have been building a layout for 20 years and in the winter, layout visits are always welcome. Jim and Mil are keen golfers and have been members of the Shawnee Slopes golf club for over 20 years. Jim and Mil own a '29 Model A Roadster and have been active members of the Stampede City Model A Ford Club for several years.
